Samsung’s Flagship tv: the QLED Q9F

The new 2018 Samsung QLED Q9F tv just blew me away and is better than any television I have ever seen! There are so many new and exciting features with this new product, but I’ll just talk about my top 3.
The first new and exciting feature is the new invisible connection that not only delivers the video signal, but also the power as well! This means that there are no longer 2 power cords, one for the tv and one for the One Connect box. The set up is quick and easy with very minimal wiring. I was able to connect my 4k DVD player, netgear router, and even my amazon alexa! With the Smart Things app, I was able to turn on and off the tv with my voice!
Another cool new feature is the ambient mode. You can take a picture of the background behind the tv and upload it to your tv, so when you turn off your tv it will blend into the wall of your house. This is especially cool if you purchase the no gap wall mount! You can also make the tv display a slide show of pictures, the weather, time, or a whole variety of other choices. If you’re worried about the electric bill, just turn on the eco mode.
The last thing that I always love about Samsung TVs is the brightness and color contrast. There is no other tv out right now that can compare to the QLED brightness and colors. There are so many settings and options as well to customize the tv to your viewing preference. You can optimize the tv for gaming by turning on “game mode” or change it to the “movie mode” for your HDR and 4K movies.
Once again I am blown away by the quality and performance of this 2018 Samsung flagship tv!
Check out my unboxing video below as well!

    Outstanding TV

This TV is very nice with a really light weight. His provided stand is well designed and the TV seems to be sitting on a throne. The 4k video quality is breathtaking compared to my previous televisions. The colors are astonishing, especially if you watch 4k content, and even in a bright living room I can tell that I no longer have to ensure not too much light enters it to avoid reflection effects. It’s easier now !
It has a good native sound even with only the TV speakers. The invisible connection cable that connects the TV to all the devices I have is super thin and is long enough to even keep the other devices in another room..
The remote control looks also great and is really intuitive. It takes a few to adapt to volume button that has 3 different fonctions (up, down and mute) but we get used to it really fast and I like it better now.
Everything seems simple with that TV, like the first setup, streaming music to it using the Spotify app, installing new apps, connecting new devices, etc…
To sum up, I love it and I highly recommend it !

    Another Samsung Winner

I’ll make it simple: I am amazed by this TV! Setup was a breeze via the mobile app, and the One Connect Box gives the area around the TV a clutter-free and very clean appearance (no wires!). The OneRemote and Universal Guide make controlling and managing apps and connected devices very easy; I was even able to set it to control my older home theater receiver, which is connected to the optical audio out, just by entering the brand name. It also functions as a SmartThings hub, so I can check on my POWERbot robo-vac and other devices from the couch. But by far the best thing about this TV is the PICTURE–I can’t get over how incredible 4K video looks! (And even ‘regular’ 1080p looks really, really good.) The blacks are black, the whites are clear white, and all of the colors are just amazing. And fast motion in movies and games is clear and judder-free, thanks to the 240Hz motion rate.

When we moved into our house, we configured a room upstairs as our ‘Movie Room’; we now have a display worthy of the name.

    The Definition of Innovation

The Samsung Q9FN is the most impressive Television I’ve ever owned. It defines Samsung as a company who likes to be innovative and do their own thing no matter what everyone else is doing. Samsung could have copied everyone else and Went with OLED but they wanted better than OLED and designed QLED. Then instead of Android they went with Tizen for the Operating System. Which I truly love over Android TV OS as they have a few kinks to work out still.
Out of the box the Q9FN is easy to set up. It is a little heavier and thicker than a lot of TVs but it also has Backlit lighting system which of course give it more weight and thickness but allows for a better picture than the edge lit lighting they went with last year which an amazing improvement. Once you have the tv stand installed you just connect the one connect box with a single ultra thin cable and then plug all of your devices into the one connect box, which allows for easy cable management, and allows you to show off the tv without worrying about all the wires. It also allows you to take a picture of your wall if you have it wall mounted and have the TV blend in with your wall for a fully hidden TV. The controller for the TV is the best controller I have ever used. It is solid and does everything you need while staying simplified and easy to use. Once you turn on the TV it will guide you through the setup process and it is easily connected to your samsung account and allows you to set up everything very easily as it walks you through. The display is absolutely beautiful and stunning. Watching any 4k HDR content is simply a dream come true merging you with whatever you are watching and making it feel like you are right there. The coloring and contrast is unrivaled and is stunning. The motion smoothing is very fluid and is one of the best on a TV I have ever seen. I am not a huge fan myself of this but if you are you will be very happy. There is no lagging or stutter with the motion and it is buttery smooth even during intense action sequences. The gaming mode with my PS4 Pro is probably my absolute favorite thing. It has the lowest input lag(delay between pressing a button and seeing the game react) of any television I have ever used. It is almost as good as my gaming monitor and it makes it great to play Call of Duty as I am able to react that much quicker without my controller taking longer to respond. Video Games with HDR mode added look bright and colorful and ultra realistic. Every detail is seen clearly and without any pixilation. The TV supports Dolby Digital, plus and HDR10+ which pairs extremely well with my surround sound bringing me more into any movie or game and adds so much more immersion and pushes you into it. A theater experience at home. Dolby Vision support isn’t included but considering that dolby charges for that and HDR10+ is extremely close its better than charging more for an unnecessary feature that may or may not make a difference. Overall the Samsung Q9F is closest thing to perfection that a TV can be for now. If you are a lover of media at all then you will fall in love with thiS TV. *I received this product as part of the Insiders program.

Amazing picture but Shudder is annoying watching sporting events

The Picture is truly the best I ever seen. Only drawback is the shudder when watching fast paced sporting events. I never had this problem with my Visio Plasma TV. I contacted Samsung and they walked me through customizing the shudder settings but it still did not fixed the problem. I watch football, hockey and basketball and its totally annoying when the shudder happens on a regular basis.

The picture is true amazing and its almost like you can step into the TV thats how real it seems. I wish they could fix the shudder issue. I went over my budget on this TV and bought directly from Samsung and for the price shudder should not be an issue.

    Ambient mode not working

Unfortunately the feature that I purchased this TV is not yet supported by the SmartThings app for IOS. I can’t stream my photos to this TV or use the TV in a custom ambient mode as the app has connectivity problems. Samsung is aware and is working on a solution but as of 5/14/18 there is date for a fix. Have had this TV for almost 2 months and cannot enjoy the feature that Samsung is marketing for this TV

    The Terminator of all TVs!

Samsung’s flagship TV, the QLED Q9F…Sitting here lost for words, in awe, marveling at this incredible piece of heavenly technology that allows me to watch everything in the most highest quality and brilliance of picture quality. Am I going too far? Answer…No, I’m not!
The Setup: Incredibly easy and a breeze. When opening the top flaps of the box, the easy-to-follow directions (with images) show a two-people setup. Then ez-lift box off the TV and box base and place on flat surface larger than the TV. After that, take the two feet, one crossbar, and six screws and assemble the stand as directed. Then, stand the TV up and place in desired location. Then plug the OneConnect box into the wall and all other desired devices to the OneConnect box. The awesome and most simple part of it all was to connect to the TV with the cool new invisible connection that not only delivers the video signal, but also the power as well. Unbelievable right! No power from the TV set itself so you can place the OneConnect box as discreet as you wish (even though the box looks pretty sexy!) Then, install batteries into the remote and hit the power button. Follow the on-screen setup, which is even easier through the mobile app, and you are watching TV like no other you have ever laid eyes on before!
The Features: The QLED screen is filled to the max with quantum dots, which makes it completely LED back-lit from edge-to-edge, and in turn, provides maximum colors that allow you to watch and enjoy amazing picture quality with minimal distraction, even in rooms with windows or light. Every movie and program we watched was brighter, sharper, had the richest blacks, the whitest whites and was purely visually stunning compared to anything I have ever seen before (and I owned an OLED). Watching shows and movies with fast frames are so smooth thanks to the 240Hz refresh rate, which is double what most TVs have. The SMART functions are incredible. The OneRemote and Universal Guide make controlling and managing apps and connected devices extremely simple. The SmartThings Hub is really neat and allows me to check on all my SMART devices I have in my house. Another cool new feature is the ambient mode. You can take a picture of the background behind the tv or any other photo from/with your phone via the SmartThings app and upload it to your tv and it will blend into the background when the tv is off.
This TV is just incredible and worth every penny. Terminator theme music playing lol. It’s a Beast!

    Awesome TV

Wow, this TV is amazing. It was a breeze to hook up and get running. It found my Samsung phone and paired with it automatically (well, after asking me if I wanted it to.) The TV was fairly light, I was able to lift it into location by myself, and set it up alone, although I do recommend having someone help out, just due to it’s size. The feet were easy to install, came with all the parts in the bags.
Once I got the TV up and running, I found the picture to be stunning as it stood. I didn’t make any adjustments for the first week, just to see how I like the factory settings. The picture popped out of the screen almost, there were times when I felt the picture was almost too life like, as if I were standing in the room next to them, it was a little odd, and took some time to get used to. I played with the setting last night to adjust them more towards my liking, and it was very easy to do. It’s all menu driven, and the remote has got to be one of the easiest I’ve ever worked with. I tend to watch a lot of the superhero shows, and the action just seems so much more lifelike on this tv than my previous one. Also tuned to a few sports games, just to see the high speed action, and it was breathtaking. It’s amazing how well the QLed captures the action. I can’t wait until I get the proper wall mount and mount it on my wall.

    Amazing Picture Great Quality TV

My first impression of the Samsung Q9F TV was with the physical appearance; It is very thin, but it was way heavier than it looked. I would definitely recommend having two people to get this set up, especially if you plan to hang it up. I love the thin slick design and the One Connect. One plug in the back of the TV and one fiber optic line to connect from the TV to the Once Connect box. The box is the control center to the TV and other plug in attachments such as a game system and cable. No more lines to hide in the wall or cords to see. This gives the TV a very independent appearance. Not having cords down the wall is wonderful. Very smooth clean simple look. You will need a location for the One Connect box to rest upon. When turning the TV on, the moving pictures were amazing. The remote is great. I love the way it works and the way it feels. It is silver and has some weight to it when you hold it in your hand. It is not some black plastic box. Putting the batteries in is also pretty sleek. There is a slide button on the back and the batteries “pop up.” Also, regarding the batteries, they are provided with the TV. The remote also has a talk feature. One of the best ways to really appreciate the color technology on the TV that we found was to search YouTube for a video to test out the “4K LED black level” We were able to find a demo video that does just that. It is truly beautiful! Very vibrant and smooth flowing colors explode across the screen. A few other features that I found that I enjoy is the e-manual that is built right into the TV. No more books to look through or get lost. It is easy to navigate and search for the information you are looking for. The ambient mode is also something that I enjoy. I work from home often and I like having the TV, but at times it can get distracting with the news and TV shows. Setting the TV to the weather or headlines on the ambient mode gives me a break to have something to look at but not get so distracted. It is also nice to use to show off the TV when you have company but are not currently watching the TV! I also like the eco sensor and screen brightness. I like that it reduces the power consumption when it is not needed. Overall, this Samsung Q9F LeDTV is very impressive. The colors are amazing and the overall design with the One Connect makes for a great TV.

    Q9F Full Array = Breathtaking!

The Samsung 2018 Q9F has been an absolute joy to be able to get my hands on and put it through the paces threw video games movies 4K and 1080p alike and absolutely all of the images have been absolutely wonderful and stunning.

The picture quality is superb beyond anything I have seen the overall brightness of this TV is one of the biggest selling points is the Brightness with views from all sides. The full array makes letterbox movies not a hassle to watch or an annoyance with a white glowing everywhere and within the settings themselves there so many different settings to make it customized to your overall viewing of what you prefer from contrast enhancer to how bright you want each different level to be.

SmartThings is a breeze to setup it was amazing and simple I didn’t have to do anything except if I wanted to add something interesting information the setup process is absolutely simple, no one should ever have a problem going to the setup if they have the application ability on their phone such as a smartphone.

Game mode on my q9f was a very interesting feature how it took over the control of the TV to improve game lag and overall picture quality!

I was very hard on the Q9F I played it an average of 8 hours with different types of sources and to be honest it is held up 100% fine I do not notice anything that has let me down throughout this entire review the price is absolutely Justified for a flagship model within a brand that carry some of the best products regardless of what division.

So this is the optimistic geek signing off and saying that this signing off and saying that this 2018 Samsung q9f television is absolutely worth the asking price and worth the experience of owning and enjoying and sharing for years to come with family and friends.

    Final score 9/10

I had been on two support calls for this device. My remote cannot work unless you are literally 3 feet from the screen. I even tried 2 remotes, but the support still thought it was XFinity. Even the remote provided doesn’t work most of the time. Worst experience ever with Samsung.

QLED Q9F, the TV of the Future

    Incredible all around.
Every few years the TV is revolutionized and it makes you wonder- How did I ever watch TV that wasn’t of this quality before?
The Q9F delivers every aspect of that. Set up – A breeze. TV is slightly heavier than it looks, but that’s probably because it’s so incredibly sleek, you almost forget that it still is a 65″ TV.

I was initially going to wall mount this but decided I might be switching out the location of this TV to my room instead of the living in the near future and decided to hold off on it. Wall Mounting probably will take two people to accomplish. I can’t see imagine doing it by themselves.

Operational set up is pretty straight forward, the one connect box does make you feel like a kid opening a christmas gift. Amazing technology will get you giddy with excitement. Guaranteed.

Quality: O.M.Gosh. This is where you really see the TV Shine through. I literally could not believe the contrasts and brightness of this TV. This is where you start thinking “What the heck was I watching before?” Samsung is the market leader in TV tech and boy does it really shine through in this piece of Art. Watching TV was great. I don’t think my cable provider is set up yet for something of this caliber. Where I felt this TV really beat anything was through video games. The refresh rate made everything incredibly seamless. No lag, regardless of the screen size, which appears much bigger than the 65″ it is. This TV delivers a big experience. The built in sound is fantastic too, but I think I will end up creating a surround sound experience for this to capture the full experience. I’ve only had the time to watch a few movies on netflix. It’s fantastic. Seamless, quick, so user friendly.

I can’t wait to get my hands on a few blu-ray movies and play them back here. You will feel like you’re in a really high quality theater.

This TV is totally worth the hype. I really did not know what to expect, but cycling between my other TV which is also a Samsung from 2014, it’s incredible to see how much progress is made in four short years.

So happy and pleased with the upgrade.

    Clarity, Brightness, Features, and Design

Setup takes less than 20 minutes.

    – Using two people, live the top of the box off to reveal TV.
    – Lift TV out of box and place face down on a flat surface that is larger than the TV
    – Take the two feet, one crossbar, and six screws and assemble the stand per the directions.
    – Stand TV up and place in desired location
    – Plug the OneConnect box into the wall (and wired internet if possible). Connect to the TV via a single cable.
    – Install batteries into the remote and hit the power button.
    – Follow on-screen setup.

I have since watched a few 4K movies (Thor: Ragnarok, Star Wars – Rogue One and Last Jedi, and Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2) several 1080p TV shows (Gotham, Bojack Horseman, Peaky Blinders, Stranger Things), documentaries (Life, Blue Planet, Planet Earth II), and my daughter has watched a ton of kids shows (Figaro Pho, Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart, Deep, Leap!, Transformers). The QLED made it so that each and every program that we watched was sharper, brighter, more vibrant, had the richest blacks, and simply put was more visually stunning compared to anything I display I have ever used. Watching movies or shows that have a lot of fast movement and every frame is crisp thanks to the 240Hz refresh rate, double what most TVs have. To give that last sentence some validity, I work in the for a digital signage company, and I am hands on with displays from multiple manufacturers using different technologies (OLED, Edge-lit LED, Back-lit LED, see-thru displays, and actual LED displays) and for the package size, weight, and price, I have yet to see anything come close in regards of performance, ease of use, and sheer brilliance in regards to picture.

As for ease of use, the One Connect box is a brilliant design. Place all of the connections to the TV somewhere else allowing the TV to be installed cleanly. This not only adds to the ease of setup with not having to make multiple long cable runs, the WOW factor people experience when walking into the room is out of this world. Another cool feature is Ambient Mode, which I have now been using for about 5 weeks. I thought it was a cool wow feature and then after using it for photos, time, and weather, it has become an essential part of my daily routine, as I make sure to walk past it every morning. Also, I am still in love with Ambient Mode’s ability to blend into its surroundings via taking a picture of the TV and wall with your phone via the SmartThings app, it makes they TV almost invisible.

The Samsung Q9F is amazing! I must say that this is the best TV I have ever owned. I could go on all day about the picture quality but you really have to see it for yourself to truly appreciate it. It also has more smart features and ways to integrate other devices than any of my past sets. The Q9F is very thin and is nearly flat against the wall with the optional no gap wall mount. The barely seen fiber optic cord runs from the TV to the one connect box and makes connecting other devices a breeze. Once everything is attached and you turn the TV on it practically sets up itself. Ambient mode is the feature I show off the most. It has a ton of options that can make the Q9F stand out or disappear in any room. I have watched Netflix, YouTube, 4K movies, and played hours of video games. So far I have not found one flaw in either picture quality or performance. You owe it to yourself to find the nearest retailer and check it out.

    We have a new King

    We have a new King

The 2018 q9f is a marvelous TV and a major upgrade from the 2017 version in both picture quality and features.
Installation and setup was straightforward. Having a Samsung phone, the app was already installed and recognized the new TV once plugged in. There is an option to setup via TV for those people who don’t have a smartphone (do they exist?). It was wall mounted with the no-gap mount (a must, in my opinion, for this tv– it looks amazing).
Ambient mode is by far the coolest new feature for this year. While I did find the app a bit buggy for setup, once I got it working it’s amazing. My TV will never be off… Either watching something or ambient mode. Obviously, it’s best though with a textured wall or repeating pattern. Also, to be fair, the app and using your own photo in ambient mode is still an Beta and updates are coming. This will only improve.
Quality is amazing! 4k and HDR content on this set will rival any OLED set on the market. That’s a claim I couldn’t make with last year’s model. The addition of FALD puts contrast on par with OLED and you get the added benefit of high brightness from QLED.
This TV is top of the line and I would recommend to anyone looking for quality

The Leader has raised the bar

Samsung has always been the leader in technology, and with the 2018 QLED Q9F, they have yet done it again. By combining the features from their Frame TV with the crisp clear picture, this is by far the best item that can be added to your wall. It includes all of the Smart TV apps that we have grown to love from Samsung, but the icing on the cake is the addition of the Smart Things app.
The picture quality is fabulous. While the ability to watch a movie with a dark background during the day dampens most TV’s, with just a couple of remote clicks I can change the mode to something to enhance the picture. While watching sports, such as Nascar, Baseball and Basketball, I have not been able to see and delays in the screen. Something that dampens others screen giving them a showed effect on the screen. The refresh rate really helps with this.
My son an his buddys have been playing their games on it while I am at work and they have done nothing but talked about how the refresh rate has changed the quality of the playing, So much that a couple of them have already been saving up to buy their own this summer.
No longer am I restricted to my mobile device to monitor my Smart Things devices, and when I need to start my PowerBot vacuum, I just open the app on the TV and select it to have it begin its cleaning cycle. Not sure if the back door is still open? I can just check the app to see the status of the door contacts.
Along with all of these new cool features, there is Bixby, Samsungs newest virtual assistant for its handsets, that is now included in its top end TV sets. when I cant find the app that I am looking for, I just tell ‘Bixby’ to open it, and I am ready to go. Although Bixby is still learning, it is quickly learning my habits to help even more.
What more could you ask from a TV? Who knows, but Samsung will definitely let you know in their next version.

I received aTV which was out of order. They could not figure out what the problem was , one connect box, one connect cable or TV ! One connect cable and connetions donot work. Even it works now , I am sure that it will be out of order in 1-2 years. Unfourtunatly , I had to return it .. wry frustrated and disappointed. Not sure how it gets 4.7 rating. Maybe picture quality ? Not worth of paying that much money .

Was looking to replace my 7 year old plasma 55 inch tv which could only display 1080p. After going to Best Buy,Costco, and Walmart to comparison shopping finally decided on the 65 inch Samsung Q9FN. The one invisible cable is a great feature, installation was a breeze and the remote made set up very easy. I’m currently rewatching all my movies both in 4K ultra and even many oldies and the picture is a pleasure to view. The blacks are as black as OLED TVs, watching sports like golf, even analog tv shows look great. I would recommend this tv to anyone looking to upgrade.

I am satisfied, there’s no other issues just beside SmartThings compatIbility such as with Hue.

The TV has game mode setting that still makes the game look great and the HDR is amazing while keeping the input lags and response time down!
Last but not least, it’s insanely bright, suits a brightly lit room well!
Only thing is, my TV freezes sometimes and will do the whole start up process again when I turn it on. But that can be fixed with a software update, TV is well worth the money.

Picture didn’t even compare to my 6 year old Samsung. So returned that LG OLED and bought the 2018 Q9FN 65 inch Samsung. Hands down – no comparison. Colors and clarity unmatched. Amazing product and will return to Samsung again when it is time to upgrade. Would absolutely recommend this product to anyone. Actually did to the delivery people even before they set it up… raving more about my 6 year old Samsung being better than the OLED just on color alone.

    Perfect For Me!

Finally, an LCD that rivals OLED! I had an OLED TV right before the purchase of the Q9 and it looked really good but was not as bright as I liked (but amazing blacks) and it suffered burn-in almost immediately after I purchased it. It was not noticable during everyday usage but when a red color screen would appear (like YouTube used to) it can be seen. I did not want to worry about what I watched and if the logo was going to be permanently affixed to my screen any longer but I did not really want to lose the deep dark blacks it was able to achieve. Along comes the Q9 and I was amazed at the bright and vibrant colors it has as well as amazing blacks that made the television set almost like an OLED one. Great picture quality overall. Perfect for gaming. I found a TV I plan on keeping for a while. And I did not think I was going to like the ambient mode. I use it all the time. In fact, it’s on my TV as I writing this review. I highly recommend anyone to consider this instead of an OLED when anything that has a static image is displayed on the screen such as games and satellite television. Amazing set that should not disappoint. A bit pricey but very premium.

The picture and sound quality are out of this world amazing. The only drawback I have is I prefer the previous stands for this tv than this one it’s very heavy and low to the stand. If you mount the tv on the wall you will have no problems out of this bad boy. I’m still reluctant to mount a tv to the wall so the stand was the only hiccup and I wish it had one more hdmi port comes with 4 really would have been nice to have 5 but picture and sound make up for all my idiosyncrasies. Would definitely recommend and probably will buy another in the fall for the bedroom.

This TV looks great at night in a darkened room AND it looks great during the day in a bright room. I just purchased the QN65Q9F FLAT 65” QLED 4K UHD 9 Series Smart TV for our living room in our new home. It was a very about this purchase because we wanted to upgrade to a high end smart TV. The quality of the 4k resolution blew me away. The contrast and sharpness of the vibrant colors make the picture jump off the screen.
The Samsung QLED 65” TV has a single cable connection called One Invisible Connection. This is a super thin wire that is easy to hide. This cable leads to the One Connect Box that connects to all of your devices. Now you can have all devices in one convenient location and it’s much easier to hide your cables.
The TV has very cool integrated features. One of my favorites is the voice activated remote. I didn’t think I would use this, but it’s so convenient that I use it 80% of the time. The TV has also quick access to a number of different apps (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, etc.), so it’s easy to watch your favorite shows from any content provider.

Purchased my Q9FN two months ago and could not be happier. It took me a couple of weeks to realize all this TV can do. It is very customizable, it has all the bells and whistles and then some. I like the TV plus feature for occasional viewing, the remote is well designed. I haven’t had much luck with figuring out ambient mode yet but will continue trying. Poor quality control. TV that I received was cracked. Unfortunately for me the crack was well hidden behind a protective side panels which you are instructed not to remove until the TV is installed. So once I installed Samsung’s wall mount, hung my brand new Q9FN and removed protective panels, I discovered the defect. Unfortunately the only solution that Samsung.com is offering is to ship everything back along with a defective TV, including already installed tv mount and a soundbar. Makes zero sense. Long time Samsung customer but this experience is surreal. Should have gone with a local electronics store and avoided this headache.

The Q9FNA is a Great TV

    I purchased/installed my Samsung QN65Q9FNA TV October 1, 2018 to replace a
1 1/2 year old OLED TV. After just over 4000+ hours the OLED TV suffered from annoying obvious permanent burn-in.

After a little over 2 months, I can say without hesitation, I am very pleased with
the Q9FNA TV. The picture quality is amazing, and it is a TV I hope lasts a long time.

The fact that Samsung has this great TV, that I no longer have to worry about burn-in,
no matter what I watch and for how long, is a big relief to me.

I could go on and on about the great specifications and features
but, other reviewers have outlined them better than I could.
The Q9FNA in my opinion, is the Best of the Best.
Thank you Samsung for taking the worry out watching TV again.

Very dissapointing to spend this much money (even when its on sale) then have the tv randomly lose the picture. The remote does not respond while this is happening – the power light on the tv blinks red and it must be unplugged from wall to reset it. Only fix found online is not to use a surge protector.

    Spectacular picture, so-so remote

Three days old and I already love this set. The picture, even without delving into the settings, is already so much more vivid than the 6-year-old Sony it replaced. I suppose an even better picture is possible, but I’m lazy and I already like what I see. It’s early, though.
The remote, though, meh… I get that Samsung wanted to simplify things and it is the SECOND-best looking remote since my old Sony Wega. Still, it is not intuitive and when you have to frequently refer to the manual, that’s not so good. So, the TV itself gets 5 stars, but the remote subtracts 1/2 star.
The other 1/2 star is subtracted due to the lack of a composite input on the One Connect box. Some of us have older equipment, you know, and I did buy a HDMI adapter, only for all the available connections to be consumed. Memo to Samsung: there is space left on the box for a composite input. It would be ideal if one could upgrade the box rather than have to buy a new TV. While I’m at it, an SD card slot would be nice.

Inconsistent Picture Quality – Can’t Recommend

THE GOOD: Great sound quality for a flatscreen, stylish appearance, excellent picture quality in bright scenes.

THE BAD: Often atrocious picture quality in dark scenes, apparently due to the local dimming feature you are paying for with this TV. During dark scenes, the backlight appears to malfunction, creating a strange pulsating/flickering appearance to the backlight, or worse, something I can only describe as a dark ‘clouding’ around the edges of the screen. This happens no matter the input source, and does NOT happen on my LCD TVs. Search YouTube for “Q9FN pulsating light” or “Q9FN backlight problems” for examples of what to expect. The closest solution I can find is: disabling Eco options, turning local dimming to low, and keeping the backlight level near max (painfully bright in dark rooms). Still, watching a movie like “Hereditary (4K UHD”) will be unbearable on this TV, with constant backlight flickering and dark clouding.

Thinking I had a defective unit, I returned for replacement, but the new tv has the same issue (plus dead pixels on arrival).

Further, the TV suffers from DSE (“dirty screen effect”) where your screen will have banding or dark splotches whenever the scene is gray. So, if you watch hockey (for example), it will constantly look like your TV screen is dirty and needs to be wiped clean.

BOTTOM LINE: These quality issues MAY be acceptable for an entry level TV, but this is Samsung’s top-of-the-line 2018 model and the performance is entirely unacceptable. I would not recommend this TV.

    Good and Bad

The blacks are great and interface is fast and simple.

Bad-1, pitcure settings are a pain to consistently set, some times they keep changing and if you are using HDR then you have to keeping setting individually for each app
Bad-2, the no gap mount is not really no gap. The tv is not flat in the back. And it will lean forward and not stay back. Samsung provides two magnetic mounting brackets to hold the tv upright
Bad-3, the instructions on using these mounts is not clear and I missed them initially and after seeing the problem realised what they are for. So a poor design

Bad-4, the magnetic mounting brackets that hold the tv upright and flush to the wall at the top are extremely poor in quality. Its been less than a month and the first time I had to move the tv slightly forward, they came apart. The magnets are held by flimsy stickers in place. Also the mounting screws are not long enough.

I hope samsung replaces this set of mounts or sells improved ones.

Overall mounting hardware and quality is not sufficient

Also, in certain conditions you can see vertical gray banding

    inadequate image quality

I brought this television and when I first turned on the TV the menu in which you must set up the tv looked like it had an auspicious image and performance quality. However, when I finally got to turn on my channel the quality of the photo was inadequate. I thought that the new QLED would make the image of the videos I was watching look fantastic, but alas I have never seen any video look this inadequate. I read the user and e-user manual to see if they had anything to say about the image quality, but nothing in the manuals were able to fix the problem. That was not the only problem, just to change the HDMI you must click the home button the go all the way to the left side of the menu ( When you clicked menu it brought you to the far right side of the panel), then go on to sources, go up, then select your HDMI. Now My expectations for this TV was high due to multiple reasons. First, I thought that Samsung was very reputable. Second, I thought that having this new technology called QLED would bring images that looked awesome. However, no I was not even able to see the eyes of someone on the TV due to the quality.

Wish there were a way to turn off the picture and just listen to the sound – like a radio. Maybe even show a picture from ambient mode. Would make using apps like spotify and Pandora a lot more enjoyable. Friends can do that with their Apple TV. Samsung owners should be able to do it too.
